derekod Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Does anyone on the forum have the resistor values to check the heater resistor. The blower has failed on 1 and 2 setting and would like to confirm before ordering a new resistor. Also the A/C Light comes on and engages the AC in position 1&2 only.Position 3&4 turns on the blower motor and turns of the A/C operation. derekod Posted February 28, 2016 Author Report Posted February 28, 2016 I decided to go ahead and replace the resistor anyway and turned out to be the cause of the fault.I am also experiencing poor heat from the car and noticed that the run on pump was not functioning properly so I have replaced this and has improved the heat inside the cabin, I feel that this pump can be miss diagnosed as a poor sign of heat from the front heater.I thought at first I had a problem with the impeller on the water pump as I was not seeing much flow happening at the expansion tank, now it has improved but feel it could be better.I have also purchased a new thermostat and will replace that shortly when I have free time and see if there is any improvement in the time it takes to reach normal operating temperature. Out of curiosity how long should it take for the Galaxy 1.9 tdi to reach normal temperature with an outside temperature around 5 degrees travelling at 40-50mph? (miles travelled and time taken) Quote
richaber Posted April 8, 2016 Report Posted April 8, 2016 Hi - did you ever measure the resistance values?? I had a problem on our 55 1.9tdi where the fan only worked on 3 and 4 but ac light only came on speeds 1 & 2I had a new resistor from the local VW/Ford dealer but it is the version ending in E,, 7M0959263E, the original is ending G,, 7M0959263G The dealer tells me that the shift from G to E is just a version update and the G is no longer available. Now the fan seems to work on all 4 speeds but the AC only works on No1... Have they sold me a duff, or do I need the G version? Rich Quote
richaber Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Just in case anyone else come up against this. The blue connector resistor ending in E is for the 3 speed fan in the rear cabin heater. Only the green connector ending G suits the front blower. Quote

Though they struggle if your dealing with the petrol engine ones anyway, a point that seemed lost on the parts dept guy.... Quote
Clint Posted May 8, 2016 Report Posted May 8, 2016 The diode on the resistor always dies and costs under £1 and a quick bit of solder. The diode value is on the diode. Quote
